Words and me

Capture the imagination – Inspire Creativity
Why do I do this blog you maybe asking?
I love reading and books and am on a personal mission to encourage the younger generation to find their own way to enjoy words.
I understand that reading for some causes difficulty and anxiety. Reading may not be your thing, but what is? Spend some time thinking about your interests and your strengths for a change rather than your challenges.
I have worked with dyslexic/ reluctant readers in a Primary school setting for many years and am fully aware of the difficulties they face.
I have also spent many hours happily listening to/ and reading with children who love books.
I feel each child can think of words in a favourable way IF they seek out the words they find interesting in a way they can access. Be it fiction/fact books, football programmes, audiobooks, braille, sign language, gaming, recipes. The list goes on……
I have a connection with Usborne books, which are amazing, and I feel this has helped me go into local schools and create an excitement and buzz around the schools that words can be fun.
My ultimate goal is to help children to capture their imagination, to inspire creativity, to encourage self belief and find their own way in the world of words.
Will you join me in my attempt to reignite a passion for words?
